Kapil Mani Dixit’s Nude at the Museum
We are pleased to present artist Kapil Mani Dixit’s latest body of nudes in our Gallery next week. The artist, already known for this particular genre, has pushed his own boundaries in this new series, and in doing so is testing public reaction too. The Exhibition will open at 5:30PM on 17 Sept, 2014 and continue till 25 Sept. Gallery hours are 10AM – 7PM.
Friends of Mr. Kapil Mani Dixit often joke that one day his nude art will get him arrested in Nepal. While that has not
happened, he was recently felicitated with the prestigious national “Arkino Youth Art Award -2070.”
On 17 Sept. the City Museum Kathmandu will host Mr.Dixit’s 12th solo exhibition. He has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Arlington, USA. Keen on social work, he has contributed his art for charitable causes such as flood victims, to help build a school, to help hurricane Katrina victims, and to provide brain tumor treatment for a Nepali Student in the USA.
Mr. Dixit is a Member of National Scholar’s Honor Society, USA. He has participated in more than 70 art exhibitions and workshops in Nepal and the USA and won many awards and felicitations over the years.
Mr. Dixit has also established a “Kapil Dixit Excellence Award” at North Lake College, Irving,Texas, to help outstanding art students there. The award is handed out annually to students who demonstrate an outstanding artistic ability and commitment to art. Recognizing his contribution to art in Nepal, he has recently been nominated for the ‘Distinguished Alumni Award 2013 by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at University of Texas Arlington.
