Asha Dangol: A 20-Year Retrospective
The City Museum Kathmandu is pleased to curate the 20-year retrospective of artist Mr. Asha Dangol, including works that have never been exhibited publicly before.
Opening Sept 3 at 5:30PM. Exhibition from Sept 3-15.
Mr. Dangol (b. 1973) is a contemporary Nepali multidisciplinary artist whose works engage us in a provocative dialogue of urbanization, consumerism, and ecological concerns. These contemporary issues are framed within a polarity and dichotomy of visual symbols: east/west, the traditional with the contemporary; the past with the present, and the mythic with the real. A co-founder of Kasthamandap Art Studio and E-Arts Nepal, he earned Master’s Degree in Fine Arts (MFA) from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. He has been practicing and creating arts and paintings and has been exhibiting his artworks since 1991. He has 11 solo art exhibitions to his credit in Nepal. His works have been exhibited in USA, Dubai, Netherlands, Germany, France, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Japan, South Korea and Belgium. He worked together with sculptors, architects, musician, poets, dramatists and photographers. He uses and experiments mixed media, installation, painting, ceramics, performance, video and interactive artworks to convey his ideas. He was one of the Nepali artists to exhibit during the 1st and 2nd Kathmandu International Art Festivals. He lives and works in Kathmandu.
